Why should I pretend to be thankful When life isn’t always so great? The things that once seemed most important I no longer appreciate.
Our country is filled with dissension, The movies steeped in sin, Kids have no respect for their elders, They’re only instructed to win.
And yet---joyful notes of a songbird From leaves turned to flame on a tree, The blue of the sky quite unequaled, Prove God’s great generosity.
The gift of a smile from a neighbor, The voices of children at play, If only we look for God’s wonders, Each day can be Thanksgiving Day.
